Sometimes we see new clothing trends on the racks but are unsure whether these trends would actually work on us; on our normal bodies living our normal, everyday lives. When it comes to ethical fashion, trends can especially be complicated. As I strive to wear clothing for longer rather than subscribing to a fast fashion model, my goal is actually to steer away from trends and toward a lasting personal style that transcends time. Still, if you’re someone who chooses to buy ethically made fashion, you are going to have to buy what is trending at the time you shop. So it’s important to consider the trends that are out there and decide whether they will work for your personal wardrobe!

I recently visited my favorite ethical fashion boutique, The Flourish Market, to find out what is currently trending in the ethical fashion world. Chief of Style Katy dressed me in several different ethically made outfits to show y’all how the latest trends look on a real life person. Here they are:

Beauties, I’ve got a real treat for you today: a clean beauty swap AND a giveaway! Be sure to read through to the end of the post for your chance to score some clean beauty goodies from Trellis Beauty!

Today, we’re talking mascara. Compared to most bloggers, I think I’m pretty low maintenance when it comes to my eyelashes. I don’t mess with eyelash curlers, eyelash extensions, eyelash growth serums, etc. What I do want is a volumizing mascara that works really well. Most days I don’t wear eyeliner, so my mascara is the sole big performer on my eye lids. I want as much va-va-voom as possible!

Y’all, it is almost officially SPRING!! The air is a tad warmer, it’s staying light longer, and flowers are starting to bloom. It has given me such a mood boost, and I have found myself drawn to fresh, light clothing that matches the approaching season!

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to take my mom to The Flourish Market for the first time. It was fun to show her a place that means so much to me! She purchased a fabulous knotted top, and I took home this bell-sleeved beauty. Read More

When you think about it, the bridal gown industry can be pretty wasteful. A lot of time, money, labor, and materials go into these stunning dresses, which are worn for one day and then shoved into a box under someone’s bed for several decades.

Stacia Wilson of Raleigh, NC, has a solution to this problem. She recently started Oak City Bridal, a consignment bridal boutique featuring designer gowns. Y’all know I love the idea of purchasing an already loved wedding gown, so I sat down with Stacia a few weeks ago to learn more about Oak City Bridal and the heart behind her business.

For the most part, this fall has been pretty good so far. But, there have been a few crap things that have happened in our family. This can take a toll on my spirit, as I am an empath who tends to feel others’ hurts and a spiritual searcher who is constantly bothered by and trying to make sense of the fact that bad things happen to innocent people and animals. Consciously cultivating gratitude is a good way to also acknowledge all of the goodness around me! Here’s what’s bringing me joy lately:

Y’all have heard me talk about The Flourish Market before…remember this post about the amazing ethical fashion truck right here in the Triangle? In a fabulous turn of events, The Flourish Market actually opened a brick and mortar store in downtown Raleigh about a month ago! I may or may not have been a couple of times already…

Yes, you read that right. Fashion trucks! They’re a thing, y’all! Think of a food truck, but with pretty clothes inside instead of tacos and burgers. It’s fantastic.

I recently wrote about my difficulties finding stores here in Raleigh at which to shop for fair trade clothing. At the end of that rather depressing post, I promised that there was good news coming. Here it is!

Back in January, I was telling a group of ladies about my interest in fair trade fashion and my struggles to find local vendors. One of them piped up and said she had recently learned about a local fair trade fashion truck through another friend. I was beyond excited and immediately hit the Internet to find out more.
