All the little things bringing me joy lately:
1. My sister and BFF’s bachelorette party! I actually just got back from their joint bachelorette weekend in Wilmington. We had the best time! It was a much needed girls getaway with yoga, a spa night, cocktails, and beach time. So looking forward to their upcoming weddings!
2. Decorating. I was recently inspired to try to add some navy and indigo to our currently all-gray living room. They are some of my favorite colors! So far I’ve only added some blue books to our shelves, but I am already loving the new pop of color. Thrift stores books have made it inexpensive and eco-friendly! Next up on my list is a navy or indigo love seat (been keeping an eye out on Facebook Marketplace and at consignment stores) and navy/indigo throw pillows (I have my eye on these in Indigo from West Elm).

Y’all, I am so excited to share my skincare and makeup routine with you today! But first, a quick story that illustrates just how well this routine is working for my (very) oily skin:
I recently attended a Barre3 class with some friends and somehow didn’t realize going into it how much sweating this class would involve. I had put on a full face of makeup that morning and had planned to continue on with errands and social engagements afterward without needing a shower. Ha!
After the class, one of the other attendees came up to me and asked, “How does your makeup still look so perfect after all of that? Mine would have completely sweated off!”
Due to my extremely oily skin, my entire skincare and makeup routine is focused on controlling oil and shine as much as possible. A little bit of sweat didn’t stand a chance. I still had beautiful makeup after an hour-long sweat session!

This post is part of my Why Series here on the blog. I often write about fair trade, eco-friendly, socially conscious living, but I am not always able to fully address in each of my blog posts WHY I choose to live this way. This series goes into greater detail about my why!
Over the past couple of years, I have transitioned my shower and skincare routine to include more and more “clean” beauty products. This means that I am choosing products that are made from natural, non-toxic ingredients rather than harmful chemicals. Here is why I have decided to make clean beauty a priority:
1. Most conventional beauty products contain harmful, toxic ingredients.

Beauties, I’ve got a real treat for you today: a clean beauty swap AND a giveaway! Be sure to read through to the end of the post for your chance to score some clean beauty goodies from Trellis Beauty!
Today, we’re talking mascara. Compared to most bloggers, I think I’m pretty low maintenance when it comes to my eyelashes. I don’t mess with eyelash curlers, eyelash extensions, eyelash growth serums, etc. What I do want is a volumizing mascara that works really well. Most days I don’t wear eyeliner, so my mascara is the sole big performer on my eye lids. I want as much va-va-voom as possible!

Anyone else out there have oily skin? Let me tell you, dear reader, that I feel your pain. One day we’ll be reaping the benefits (#nowrinkles), but until then, I’m right there in the trenches with you trying to keep my face from looking like I just rubbed Crisco all over it.
I’ve spent a good bit of time trying various makeup and skin care products claiming to help keep facial oil at bay. I had just discovered a life-changing mattifying primer and was pretty pleased with my daily makeup routine when boom, I had to go and discover the clean beauty movement. Don’t worry, friends! I’ve done my research and have successfully found a clean primer that I LOVE! I’m excited to share my journey with you. Read More

All the little things that I’ve been loving lately.
1. My birthday! I celebrated my birthday in mid-March with mi familia. My parents, my sister, and her boyfriend + pup came up to celebrate with me. We went to Bull City Ciderworks, ate lots of delicious gluten-free food, went shopping, played games, and watched basketball. It was delightful!

This week, I did something I never thought I would do: I didn’t use body wash, face wash, or shaving cream for an entire week!
This was part of a week-long experiment called the Norwex Body Cloth Challenge. The rules were pretty straightforward: Anytime I normally would have reached for soap or shaving cream, I used the Norwex body cloth instead.
In this blog post, I’m going to give you all of the dirt about how things went in the challenge. I was not asked by Norwex to write about my experiences, nor am I being compensated for doing so. I did receive the body cloth for free from my Norwex consultant in exchange for participating in the challenge. All thoughts expressed in this post are my honest opinions!

Everyone here in the hot and humid South knows that once you’ve got a good deodorant, you don’t mess with it. As long as you’re smelling nice and not experiencing any irritation, you’re golden. That is, until you learn about the nasty ingredients lurking in your favorite deodorant!
Deodorant was actually one of the first clean beauty switches I made. Two years ago or so, I noticed natural deodorants for sale on Thrive Market. I assumed that if these deodorants were natural and good for me, that must mean the Secret deodorant I had been using for 10+ years was NOT good for me. Sound familiar? This was my same line of reasoning when I first decided to venture into the land of natural body washes.
So, I ordered some natural deodorant. I was excited to find that it smelled pretty good! At least, for a few minutes. After a few hours, however, things were starting to smell less-than-nice. I was a little startled, because I’ve never been a person to struggle with sweat or body odor issues. But, I figured that maybe this particular brand wasn’t the greatest, and I ordered a different natural deodorant to try. Read More
