We are just two days away from World Vegetarian Day on October 1, so it seems like the perfect opportunity to share some of my favorite, tried-and-true vegetarian recipes!
I’ve been cooking exclusively vegetarian for several years now. There are so many reasons why I decided to make the switch: it’s better for the environment, it’s better for your health, it’s kinder to animals (living conditions for livestock tend to be pretty deplorable), and it saves a lot of money!
All of these recipes are relatively healthy and easy. I work full-time outside the home and don’t have tons of time to spend cooking. I try to balance convenience, health, flavor, and cost when making my grocery list and deciding what to cook. These are also all recipes that have gotten a stamp of approval from my (previously) meat-loving husband!

All the little things bringing me joy lately:
1. My sister and BFF’s bachelorette party! I actually just got back from their joint bachelorette weekend in Wilmington. We had the best time! It was a much needed girls getaway with yoga, a spa night, cocktails, and beach time. So looking forward to their upcoming weddings!
2. Decorating. I was recently inspired to try to add some navy and indigo to our currently all-gray living room. They are some of my favorite colors! So far I’ve only added some blue books to our shelves, but I am already loving the new pop of color. Thrift stores books have made it inexpensive and eco-friendly! Next up on my list is a navy or indigo love seat (been keeping an eye out on Facebook Marketplace and at consignment stores) and navy/indigo throw pillows (I have my eye on these in Indigo from West Elm).

One of the most common requests I get from readers is for tips on how to shop for consignment clothing. Y’all know I love shopping consignment! It’s a great way to get the look you want for less, all while being good to the earth!
Shopping consignment is a sustainable way to shop. You are purchasing something that has already been made rather than creating more demand and putting additional strain on the earth’s resources. Shopping consignment also helps keep perfectly good clothing from stacking up in landfills.
Here are my tips for how to have a successful online consignment shopping experience.

Sometimes the hardest things to watch are the most important things to watch.
Social justice can be a topic that makes people uncomfortable, because it often involves acknowledging that certain groups of people don’t have the same privileges as everyone else. But we shouldn’t shy away!
What does “social justice” even mean? The term refers to a situation in which a society is just in terms of fair distribution of wealth, opportunities, and privileges.
Obviously, no society gets it right all the time when it comes to just distribution of wealth, opportunities, and privileges. It is so important that we strive to do better and make life fair for all people. To me, that’s a key part of what it means to be “Fairly Southern.”
Netflix offers a great selection of social justice documentaries that can teach us more about the injustices present in the world today and how we can push for change and equality. Here are my top 10 recommendations! I haven’t watched all of these myself, but the ones that I haven’t watched are in my queue!

I was PUMPED when Target released its first fair trade denim several weeks ago. When a major retailer like Target begins offering fair trade clothing options, it makes fair trade accessible to so many more people!
I decided to investigate Target’s fair trade denim further. How do you find it? What is the quality like? Does it live up to the initial hype?
I went to several different Target locations to scope out their fair trade denim options and tried on the pants. Here are my honest thoughts!

Y’all know I’m a huge fan of buying consignment, for many reasons! Today, I’m doing a Q&A with a consignment queen. She has been selling on eBay for over 15 years and now sells on four different e-commerce sites! She’s a total girl boss, creating her own mailer company after discovering a gap in the packaging materials market. And, she once gave me my favorite fashion advice: “Some people aren’t meant to fit in.” Meet Holly Taylor!

It’s that time of year again: Tailgating season!! I’m really not a football person, but I love a good tailgate. And I love a sustainable tailgate even more!
It can be easy to produce a lot of unnecessary waste at your tailgate without even meaning to. Anytime you need portable, convenient food and food serving items, you can get carried away with lots of trash and plastic. But that need not be the case!
Here are some easy tips to keep your tailgate sustainable so that you can still have fun without trashing the earth!

This post is not sponsored. I received a Reclaimed Clothes Box in exchange for my honest opinions.

I think I must have been unconsciously holding out for the best, which I have now officially found: Reclaimed Clothes Box! (And I have a discount code! Keep reading!)

Y’all, I am so excited to share my skincare and makeup routine with you today! But first, a quick story that illustrates just how well this routine is working for my (very) oily skin:
I recently attended a Barre3 class with some friends and somehow didn’t realize going into it how much sweating this class would involve. I had put on a full face of makeup that morning and had planned to continue on with errands and social engagements afterward without needing a shower. Ha!
After the class, one of the other attendees came up to me and asked, “How does your makeup still look so perfect after all of that? Mine would have completely sweated off!”
Due to my extremely oily skin, my entire skincare and makeup routine is focused on controlling oil and shine as much as possible. A little bit of sweat didn’t stand a chance. I still had beautiful makeup after an hour-long sweat session!

This post is sponsored by Amani ya Juu. All opinions are my own and reflect my honest thoughts on the products.
I’ve done a great job over the past several years of going ethical with my wardrobe. I pretty much exclusively buy fair trade or eco-friendly clothing items. But extending fair trade purchasing into other areas of my life has been more of a struggle. The next fair trade frontier on my radar? Home goods!
For some reason, my mind doesn’t automatically turn to fair trade when I’m in need of a home good item. When I say home goods, I really mean anything that I use at home, from decor to more practical items like dishes. When I need a set of oven mitts, I don’t think twice about running out to Bed Bath & Beyond and buying the first pair I see on the shelf. This is so different from how I shop for clothing, which is much more selective and thoughtful! Part of the problem is that I have no idea where to even begin shopping for fair trade home goods. And I’m ready for that to change.
