Continuing on with our Signature Cocktail series, I have a truly Southern drink for you today: Mason-Dixons. Here in the Carolinas, we take true pride in living below the Mason-Dixon line…am I right y’all? Everything good in life comes from below this proverbial line….pecan pie, big hair, blessed hearts, sweet tea… Which brings us back to this lovely drink, which would be especially refreshing on a hot day:

Ladies…how many of you have dreamed about your wedding dress for years, but have never given a thought to what you’ll put on for your rehearsal dinner? Well, you’re in good company…it didn’t occur to me to consider my rehearsal dinner dress until this summer, just a month or so before my wedding! Many brides these days are opting to wear white or ivory for their rehearsal dinner, just in case anyone should forget who the bride is (ha!). I’ve gathered some lovely LWD (little white dress) inspiration for those of you wanting to get on board with this trend (or for brides wanting to go short on their big day!). Behold:

Y’all, do you know about Loverly? It’s sort of like Pinterest, except exclusively for weddings.  I sometimes get in a groove where I really like it, then other times not so much. They have lots of  beautiful things to add to your various “bundles”, but not quite as much selection as there is on Pinterest (and you can’t upload your own photos as far as I know). My other complaint about it at first was that it mostly just featured upscale, very expensive-looking weddings, but lately it seems like they’ve started to diversify more. But, what I’ve really started to ADORE lately about Loverly are their articles. They have been killing it!! If you read the blog often, you have probably already noticed some Loverly articles linked in my Internet roundup posts. Here is a little sampling of my favorite Loverly posts lately:

Hello belles and beaus! It has been a few days (okay, maybe a week or two) since my last post….last-minute wedding planning is in full swing here. Today I am delivering some inspiration featuring one of the latest trends in wedding gowns: spaghetti straps! I love this delicate detail…so feminine. It shows off the same amount of skin as a strapless dress, but gives a greater sense of security. There’s something almost ballerina-esque about it. Here are some of my favorite spaghetti strap gowns at the moment:

Save the date, belles and beaus! The famous Southern Bridal Show and Expo is returning to Raleigh, NC, on August 9-10, 2014. The Show is held at the Jim Graham Building at the NC State Fairgrounds from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. both days. Over 150 Triangle-area wedding vendors will be there to talk to you about their services and show you their work. Cake samples are guaranteed to be in abundance! This is a great opportunity to learn about vendors in the area and knock out a good chunk of wedding planning. Oh, and many of the vendors hold drawings where they give away freebies…you could score a discount on your reception venue, or even a free photography package!

Back in May we talked about the Brides Against Breast Cancer Charity Wedding Gown Sale and Bridal Show taking place in Charlotte. Now, Durham gets a shot at discounted wedding dresses while at the same time supporting a great cause!

Mark your calendars: The Brides Against Breast Cancer Charity Wedding Gown Sale and Bridal Show is taking place Sunday, July 13 at the Washington Duke Inn and Golf Club in Durham, NC. The sale will feature new and already-loved wedding gowns ranging from $99-$3,900 and sizes 4-18 (keep in mind that wedding dresses tend to run small, so if you are normally a size 4, you likely will wear a size 6 or 8 wedding gown). Durham-area wedding vendors will also be present at the show, so you can knock out some planning at the same time! I also hear that there will be lots of exciting prizes and giveaways.

Visit the Brides Against Breast Cancer webpage to register to attend or volunteer for the event. The VIP Unveiling of the Gowns Reception will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and general admission for the sale will be 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. Buying general admission tickets ahead of time saves money, as the tickets cost $5 online but $7 at the door. Ticket purchases are tax deductible.

Brides Against Breast Cancer supports efforts to deliver free information and services to children and adults impacted by cancer.

Go register, belles! Happy shopping!

xoxo Laura

Y’all had so much fun with my first Internet Roundup post that I decided to do another! Here’s what I’m loving on the interwebs lately:
