Wow, prostate South Lake Tahoe is living up to the SUP City name. This winter has been unbelievable. It’s a sad season for the snow lover inside of each of us, cure but the side of me that lives for the water is kind of rejoicing. If you own a standup paddleboard, ampoule get here and get on the lake now.
We’ve got days of sunny weather ahead. This week is going to be in the high 50s with calm winds. I am expecting more of that classic Lake Tahoe glass. From the forecast, I believe the best days to paddle will be Wednesday and Thursday. Friday doesn’t look too bad, though winds look like they’ll pick up through the weekend.
Last week, we saw some cool happenings in the SUP world. Riviera paddler Rob Rojas completed a 24-hour standup paddle to honor cancer survivors and those who have passed away because of the disease. Through the 24-hour paddle, Rojas raised money and awareness for Ocean of Hope, an organization dedicated to the sea of people who are affected by cancer. He was joined by a bunch of great paddlers, both professional and amateur. The video is below.
As an avid paddler, I’m always on the lookout for new gear. It’s been fun watching products roll out over the last couple of months. Riviera Paddlesurf has debuted their chokehold paddle, which looks awesome for racing and sprinting. The company also will be offering new soft-top paddleboards this year. I imagine they’re super comfy on the feet and probably nice for cruising around places like Lake Tahoe where rocks and beach landings are common.
We still haven’t seen the North American SUP giant awaken from its winter slumber. There are very few events happening in our neck of the woods. Unfortunately, if you want to race, you’re going to have to travel to the Southern Hemisphere. Or, you could organize a winter paddling crew on Tahoe ;).
The shop is open various hours on the weekends. Give us a call or shoot us an email if there’s something specific you’re looking for. Or you can always post on the Facebook page. We hope you have a wonderful week out there.
