Hello Paddlers, see
Spring is making up for the winter we didn’t have. This type of weather does not make it easy to get out and paddle. But we’ll be thankful for it later in the summer when the lake level starts to drop.
Showers are the name of the game this week. We’re expecting cloudy, medical rainy conditions through next week. Weather Underground is expecting lightning and thunder everyday until this weekend. Sunday morning may offer a small window to get out there in calm conditions, but keep an eye on the forecast or the webcam as conditions are likely to change.
With the Memorial Day Holiday this weekend, we will open the rental shop. Stop by the main location near Rude Brothers for more information. We will also have a few kayaks and a paddleboat or two, if you’d like to try something different.
I’m away all this week, but some of the STSUP staff did get out on the boards recently. Josiah Brackett charged the Upper Truckee River. In one section, he found a small waterfall drop. We don’t have a ton of whitewater paddling around here, so this was very cool to see. Of course, the river’s still freezing, so Josiah was sporting a drysuit. Check out the video on Facebook.
We are proud to announce that Tahoe Center for Orthopedics is helping to support Race the Lake of the Sky® 2015. At Tahoe Center for Orthopedics, they believe that you don’t have to give up the sports or recreational activities you love just because of an injury or a musculoskeletal condition.
By using leading edge treatment techniques and progressive patient-specific programs, they will help you recover faster and get you back to doing what you love to do. Just ask the U.S. Ski Team about the quality care Tahoe Center for Orthopedics provides.
So far, the race has received support from so many amazing businesses and organizations. We’re excited to be able to provide awesome paddling opportunities, like the Thomas Maximus Stroke Technique Clinic. We’re closing in on a month until the race, so register soon because prices will go up. If you have any questions, please call (530-416-4829) or email (email@example.com).
That’s it for this week. If you have any questions about paddling on Lake Tahoe or if you’re looking for gear, feel free to stop by the shop. We’re open every day. If somebody isn’t in the front shop, we are most likely around back in the warehouse. Or you can give us a ring at 530-416-4829. You can also reach us on our Facebook page. And make sure to follow South Tahoe Standup Paddle and Race the Lake of the Sky on Instagram. Current conditions on Lake Tahoe’s South Shore are always available on our webcam. We hope you have a fantastic week out there.
