What a wild week on the South Shore. From golf ball-sized hail and lightning to waterspouts, sovaldi the weather has proved a major impediment to getting out on the lake. Luckily, it looks like next week will clear up and we have plenty to do until then. Start by checking out the amazing video recap of Race the Lake of the Sky!
There’s a chance of thunderstorms tomorrow and then the likelihood of precipitation drops. Temperatures will rise through the week to mid-70s. Of course, we’ll still see those afternoon winds. But if you’re really on it, I’m sure there will be a few great windows of paddling to be had. I know I’m going to be looking at Monday and Tuesday mornings.
As you probably know, Week 3 of the Wednesday Night SUP Series was canceled due to the weather. We’ll pick up next week with the third night of the series. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates.
Our intrepid rental crew is out on the El Dorado Beach every day. If you’re looking for a quick paddle or a longer rental, swing by the booth and someone will be happy to help you out. We’re also offering tours through the shop. This is an amazing way to check out the beautiful South Shore with friends, family or coworkers. Reservations and a variety of packages are available.
If you need any more encouragement to get out on the water, here are a few picks showing how beautiful a trip along the South Shore can be. I shot these underwater photos at Race the Lake of the Sky. We’re fortunate to live in a place where the water is clear and the beaches are garbage free.
Speaking of garbage, a big THANK YOU to all those who came out last week and help pick up the South Shore beaches. Kenny Curtzweiler and crew delivered thousands of pounds of trash to the South Lake Tahoe dump.
If you have any questions about paddling on Lake Tahoe or if you’re looking for gear, come by and see us at the shop. We’re open every day. If somebody isn’t in the front shop, we are most likely around back in the warehouse. Or you can give us a ring at 530-416-4829. You can also reach us on our Facebook page. And make sure to follow South Tahoe Standup Paddle and Race the Lake of the Sky on Instagram. Current conditions on Lake Tahoe’s South Shore are always available on our webcam. We hope you have a fantastic week out there.
