We have entered the crazy season. The weather appears to be easing and it’s going to be a great week for paddling.
We are looking at much warmer temperatures than last week with highs in the low 70s. Forecasters are showing little chance of precipitation, store though there’s always the possibility of an odd thunderstorm. Winds are going to particularly low on Friday and Saturday.
The best days to paddle this week will probably be Friday and Saturday, and but any morning will probably be calm and a lot of fun. If you want to be in great shape when the races roll around, start training now.
We’re a month out from Race the Lake of the Sky and we’re anticipating a very exciting event. Chris and crew have been dialing in all the details. Workshops with Thomas Maximus and Danny Ching are set. There’s also the Performance Paddling Kids Clinic and the Lazy Dog Paddle Yoga Teacher’s Training. We will have the same selection of races as last year, including the El Dorado 5-Miler, the Emerald Bay Distance Race and the SUP Cross Series. Of course, we’re bringing back the super fun Sweet Moves contest, too.
You still have until the race to register for any of the clinics or races, but prices will increase. If you’re at all interested in paddling, beginner to expert, this is the one event you do not want to miss. Even for those totally unfamiliar with the sport, we have everything you need to jump in and start paddling. Register now.
For vendors, the deadline to reserve space is June 1. Due to city regulation, we will not be adding any last minute vendors. We’re expecting an amazing expo along the beautiful Lakeview Commons. If you’d like to be a part of it, please get in touch soon.
To prepare El Dorado Beach for the crowds, we’ve holding a beach cleanup. Join us June 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to scour the lakefront for litter. Our partners, McDuff’s Public House, the League to Save Lake Tahoe and the City of South Lake Tahoe, will help supply buckets and grabber tools.
Rentals are now available. We’re still offering seasonal rentals and corporate passes. For employers who want to keep their employees happy and healthy, this is an amazing option. Come by and see us at the shop to discuss.
That’s it for this week. If you have any questions about paddling on Lake Tahoe or if you’re looking for gear, feel free to stop by the shop. We’re open every day. If somebody isn’t in the front shop, we are most likely around back in the warehouse. Or you can give us a ring at 530-416-4829. You can also reach us on our Facebook page. And make sure to follow South Tahoe Standup Paddle and Race the Lake of the Sky on Instagram. Current conditions on Lake Tahoe’s South Shore are always available on our webcam. We hope you have a fantastic week out there.
